Investigation in Russia confirms Pantsir-S1 air defense system responsible for AZAL plane crash

A criminal case in Russia regarding the crash of an AZAL plane near Aktau on December 25 has confirmed that the aircraft was hit by the Pantsir S-1 air defense system, Report informs via Caliber.Az that cites its sources.
The system was reportedly brought to Russia from Syria.
The investigation has verified that electronic warfare means were used against the Azerbaijani plane, the source said.
According to the information, the Russian side has also identified both those who fired at the aircraft and those who gave the order to fire.
The AZAL passenger aircraft operating the Baku-Grozny flight crashed on December 25 near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Of the 67 people on board, 38 died and 29 survived. According to preliminary data, the plane crashed as a result of physical and technical external interference in the Russian airspace.
